“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” (Walt Disney)
Hello, World!
Welcome to my very first blog post on Think Out Loud (TOLBLOG) blog. I have to admit, I’m very excited for this initiative about writing. I’m not much of a writer (no, I didn’t start this to improve my writing) so starting a personal blog is a first for me. So then, why did I start this blog? And a bigger mystery at this point is: who in the world am I?
If those are the questions coming to your mind, then in my opinion, you are thinking logically to understand the crux of this blog. Let’s start by answering (or not answering) the first logical question when reading the first blog post of someone’s (first) blog. Who is the author? This question, I must apologize, I will not answer. My reasoning being that if I were to provide details about myself at this stage (I may or may not reveal my identity in the future posts as I continue this blog), I fear I could potentially induce a bias against myself from the existing stereotypes against different groups of people based on age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. Yes, the sad and unfortunate reality is that prejudice still exists today. As a consequence of this discrimination, people may start criticizing me as an individual rather than critiquing my ideas, my thoughts, and my arguments. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not cynical. Within the last century, we have certainly come a long way but there is still work left to do in our collective endeavour to achieve true equality and fairness.
I believe the next logical question is like a 2-part question: a) why am I doing this blog? Every single day before I go to bed, a plethora of thoughts invade my mind until I eventually sleep off. And every single day, I have looked for an avenue to share my thoughts on a global platform and engage as many as I can to learn and have a discussion about different views and perspectives from all around the world. And a WordPress blog just seemed the best platform; Twitter is too restrictive, Facebook jeopardizes my privacy, other blog websites did not appeal to me as much, and other ways to share ideas that I didn’t choose because I didn’t know better than this.
All of that being said, I hope you will all be looking forward to my posts as much as I am. I will not be posting every day nor will I be adhering to a set schedule. But, I will try to post, on average, 1 post a week. I hope to see you all on my next post. Until then, have fun while solving this riddle: You will always find me in the past. I can be created in the present, but the future will never taint me. What am I?
DISCLAIMER: I am not a professional on all of the topics I will be discussing about. But I will not accept that as an excuse for myself to pretend that there aren’t problems in this world that needs to be solved by everyone. (My apologies for the excessive negatives used in my last sentence; really made the sentence structure confusing, I think.)
